Он не вкомпилён - по-прежнему модулем (radeonfb.o). Но сильно
пофиксен.

Возможность иметь вместо стандартной текстовой консоли 80x25@70Hz
любой режим, поддерживающийся монитором. Можно даже использовать
шрифты нестандартного размера (не 8x16), только их грузить нечем -
имеющийся console-tools этого не умеет.
Для начала можно просто сделать в консоли modprobe radeonfb,
попробовать выставить нужный режим через fbset. Если понравится -
впишите соответствующие параметры в /etc/sysconfig/framebuffer.
Графической заставки при загрузке не будет - для этого надо
действительно вкомпилировать поддержку в ядро.
