Тут как-то спрашивали, как подключить нагорячую ide винт.
Наткнулся в man hdparm:
-R Register an IDE interface. Dangerous.

У меня даже где-то лежит целый ворох инструкций на эту тему.
Оно-то оно, только вот информации мало.
Вы, например, поняли, что у ключа -R ещё есть параметр,
указывающий адрес устройства?
Как-то всё это непросто, и success story, относящейся к Linux на PC,
я ещё не встречал...
