Повторил эту команду и получил примерно тот же лог-файл.
Я так понимаю, с adduser-ом всё в порядке?
passwd www проходит?
Если www не может войти в систему, а пороль назначен,
то, наверное, проблема с login. С консоли отдайте команду:
strace -fF -e trace=file login www 2> login.log
(нужно будет быстро набрать пароль) и дайте посмотреть
на login.log.
Кстати, укажите ругательное сообщение, а то оно
уже затерялось.
