Ну вот и разобрался немного.
добавить в шрифты в гноме принт можно либо руками в /usr/share/fonts/fontmap2
при этом необходимая информация берется из файла *.afm (названия шрифта и версия)
и результата крмманды stat -t fontname.* (размеры файлов и mtime в юникс стиле)
либо коммандой gnome-font-install -t temp <fontdir>
и затем добавить содержимое cat temp >> fontmap2 (и удалить пару строк из места склейки)
кроме того эти шрифты надо добавить в xfs и ghostscript поскольку тот же гнумерик отражает шрифт в редактировании из xfs а в превьюве и печати уже берет его из гноме-принт.
ghostscript имхо при делах только при непосредственном выводе на печать.
Примечание. у меня ничего не получалось, поскольку в большинстве *.afm присутствовала строчка
CharacterSet Cyrillic
вот этого гноме принт не переваривает.
и еще. 18 шрифтов это gnome-font-install добавил без проблем.
262 шрифта уже не смог. выпал в кору. завтра буду смотреть. возможно это последствия не очень удачного выкорчевывания вышеуказанной строки из *.afm
последний момент. С этими шрифтами выравнивание по центру и правой стороне в гнумерике работает как положено.
то есть все таки метрики в русской части стандартных шрифтов действительно неверные. Гнумерик тут получается не при чем.
