Нельзя ли все-таки довести до ума $subj ?
1. В /etc/logrotate.d отсутствует syslog-ng, аналогичный (или
заменяющий syslogd при установке). Странно, что нет конфликта
пакетов syslogd и syslog-ng.
2. Горячая замена syslogd на syslog-ng не проходит, при
service syslogd stop
service syslog-ng start
на 12-й консоли запись "exiting on signal 15..."
причем
init 1
init 3
помогает.
3. Строку с "source remote" в конфиге лучше по умолчанию
закомментировать.
4. При установке bind классно было бы добавлять в "source sys"
упоминание о "/var/lib/named/dev/log", опция "-a" из
/etc/sysconfig/syslogd не помогла, с ней
service start syslog-ng
пишет "ok", однако в процессах syslog-ng нет.
5. Документация по базовому компоненту скудна, можно упаковать из
http://www.balabit.hu/static/syslog-ng/reference/book1.html
