А почему новый synaptic-0.15-alt2 не запускается????
пишет
Opening configuration file /root/.synaptic/synaptic.conf - ifstream::ifstream (2 No such file or directory)
synaptic: error while loading shared libraries: synaptic: undefined symbol: RReleaseImage

apt вроде обновил.

У меня он запускается, но валится при каждой попытке установить
что-либо. И на предыдущий уже не откатишься. :-(((

У меня все нормально запускается. Вы его из-под рута запускаете или через
usermod-wrapper (окошко о пароле выскакивает?)
