Коллеги! мне очень интересно, как это делается. Дайте, пожалуйста,
ссылки на тему подобных алгоритмов.

Может, это 3d подглючивает? Проблемы 2d должны быть видны на скриншоте.
Если так, то, возможно, имеет смысл SDL-backend поменять (задать явно
через переменную окружения..
