Кстати давно хотел написать но вот как раз в тему !!!
А зачем нужны исходники ядра и патчи отдельными пакетами ???
Посмотрите как прекрасно все сделано в mandrake.
Устанавливаеш пакетик типа kernel_....-source...
B у тебя в каталоге /usr/src/linux....
Исходники ядра с уже наложенными всеми патчами, всеми дровами третьих
фирм и остально такой ерундой !!!!
Это просто прелесть - make menuconfig - make bzImage - make modules -
make modules_install - lilo ;)
А тут это целая эпопея !!!
И кстати vmware-4.5.2 у меня в алт 2.4 не ставиться
при попытке компелить модули для ядра ругается на malloc !!!
пришлось откатиться на 4.4.1 (вроде)
