Приветствую!
Понадобилось на работе воткнуть вторую сетевуху. Принес из дому
гарантированно рабочую (снял с домашнего десктопа, которую заменил на
сетевуху стандарта PCE-E), воткнул, перегрузился, зашел в acc - и не
увидел ее. В консоли по lspci:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado]

По lspci -vvk:

Сетевого интерфейса нет. По dmesg | grep 3c59x:

[ 6.663055] 3c59x: vortex_probe1 fails. Returns -22

Для некоторых "новых" 3c905 нужен был модуль 3c9xx, когда ядра были 2.6...
