Подтверждаю. Есть такое дело.
Кстати о личном опыте общения с gprs usb модемами
Novaway UM-06 - работает только через прямой вызов pppd. kppp ждет, пока
модем ответит OK, но дождаться не может.
PCMCIA Espada ESP-PG-02 в USB режиме (там есть такая возможность,
подключить кабелем к USB, в основном PCMCIA режиме не работает) - то же
самое, кроме того, при попытке настроить kppp не ждет, а сразу сообщает,
что модем занят.
