IMHO, это замена шила на мыло.

описании контроллера слово "fakeraid", то обходите его десятой дорогой.
Из остальных я видел в работе 3ware и areca, но вот насчёт того, что они
стоят < $150, - не слыхал.
А за цену в пределах < $150 я обычно рекомендую организовать Linux
software RAID, а деньги отдать мне на пиво (всё лучше, чем выбросить на
мусорное железо ;)
P.S. Не поддерживайте производителей железного мусора!
