1) "где?" - "Известно где" (c) фольклор; "Use Google, Luke!" (c) те же.
2) "какой?" - смотря какие цели преследуете. Для участия в процессе
разработки ALT (рассылка-то @altlinux.ru ;-) ) лучше выбрать находящийся
в разработке ALT Linux Sisyphus (тут есть тонкости с трактовкой понятия
"дистрибутив" применительно к Sisyphus, однако достаточно много людей
используют его в повседневной жизни, в основном разработчики ALT). Если
вы преследуете другие цели, то ALT пока к ним не готов. Есть Debian,
SuSE, RedHat.
