Если говорить про mptsas (да и про aic9410), то в большинстве этих
недоконтроллеров весь "мозг" запрятан в прошивку, а драйвер всего лишь
является оберткой для интерпритации команд. Т.е. это очень похоже на
софтрейды со всеми вытекающими. Например, у вас может не работать hotplug,
или прошивка будет иметь разные с вами мнения о том, нужно ли выкинуть
диск из массива.
