хотя бы в том, что для gparted'а нет устройства /dev/sdb
или вот такое:
[root@oasu3 /]# ls /dev/sd*
/dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda3 /dev/sdb
[root@oasu3 /]# fdisk -l

Диск /dev/sda: 160.0 ГБ, 160040803840 байт
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = цилиндры of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x000c7991

Устр-во Загр Начало Конец Блоки Id Система
/dev/sda1 * 1 522 4192933+ 82 Linux своп / Solaris
/dev/sda2 523 9989 76043677+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 9990 19457 76051710 83 Linux
[root@oasu3 /]# testdisk /dev/sdb
TestDisk 6.9, Data Recovery Utility, February 2008
Christophe GRENIER <grenier@cgsecurity.org>
http://www.cgsecurity.org

Unable to open file or device /dev/sdb

Usage: testdisk [/log] [/debug] [file or device]
testdisk /list [/log] [file or device]

/log : create a testdisk.log file
/debug : add debug information
/list : display current partitions

TestDisk checks and recovers lost partitions
It works with :
- BeFS (BeOS) - BSD disklabel (Free/Open/Net BSD)
- CramFS, Compressed File System - DOS/Windows FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32
- HFS, HFS+, Hierarchical File System - JFS, IBM's Journaled File System
- Linux Ext2 and Ext3 - Linux Raid
- Linux Swap - LVM, LVM2, Logical Volume Manager
- Netware NSS - NTFS (Windows NT/2K/XP/2003)
- ReiserFS 3.5, 3.6 and 4 - Sun Solaris i386 disklabel
- UFS and UFS2 (Sun/BSD/...) - XFS, SGI's Journaled File System
