Под рутом править файл /etc/lilo.conf
Где-нибудь в начале файла просто добавить строчку:
compact
И не забыть под рутом дать команду lilo , чтобы изменения вступили в силу.
PS. А также можно почитать man lilo.conf
(в KDE удобно Alt-F2 и набрать man:lilo.conf )
