Есть подозрение, что бага железа или скорее BIOS.

Наблюдения показывают, что вылазит спонтанно и от версии ядра не
зависит, ловил такое на KT133a как-то с 2.4.2x (IDE only) и вот
только что лицезрел на K8T800 с 2.4.26, а на днях -- вроде и с
2.6.14 (IDE+SATA+SCSI).
Спросонья думается, что опция на манер "Reset configuration data"
в BIOS, особенно после перемен по платам, может иметь некоторое
отношение к вопросу. Броски по питанию -- тоже.
Точнее не скажу.
