Тулзень hostapd предназначена только для одного - с ее помощью из
компьютера с радиокартой делают точку доступа. Не больше. Драйвера
устройств она собой не подменяет.
Можно попробовать подгрузить модуль prism54 вручную через modprobe.
Почему он не грузится автоматом - это скорее вопрос к hotplug (может он
просто не знает о такой карте, как раньше не знал про карты на PRISM2 и
грузил для них нерабочие драйвера от Orinoco)
