Я тоже долго мучался, подбирая dongle_id на IBM A31.
Потом то ли в Интернете нашёл, то ли угадал. Вот, что
у меня в /etc/modules.conf :
...
options nsc-ircc io=0x2f8 irq=3 dma=3 dongle_id=0x09
pre-install nsc-ircc /bin/setserial /dev/ttyS1 uart none
alias irda0 nsc-ircc
...
