мне в таких случаях помогает alt+sysrq+K
после этого на полэкрана (при vga=791) черно зеленая каша, в которой, однако
можно переключиться на первую консоль (alt-f1), вслепую залогиниться и
сделать service dm restart.
проявляется при включении RenderAccell на geforce2mx440 с дровами 7174.
при запуске kde control center вместо заставки белое окно и вис, еще
некоторые сайты в мозилле (причем на этих сайтах зависание устойчиво
воспроизводится). такое впечатление, что какая-то картинка сводит драйвер с
ума. мышка двигается, но не реагирует.
