Использую ноутбук - Sony Vaio GRT150
использовал 2.4 ядро - тачпад работал нормально
поставил 2.6 - как с ума сошел - одинарный клик по нему перестал
работать - и появилось много ложных срабатываний-кликов при
перемещении :(
кучочек из dmesg

Было тоже. Сделал в /etc/modules
psmouse proto=exps

Поставьте в xorg и настройте пакет synaptics
