О, да Вы просто кладезь редкого жалеза :-)
Если хотите -- можно попробовать поправить ситуацию на ветке 2.3,
вдруг получится дёшево починить -- так можно в том же "2.3.3", о
котором писал рядом, так и сделать.

Так зачем критиковать-то, больше рабочего софта -- это почти
всегда лучше :-)
Покажите оттуда dmesg, lspci и lsmod, а также /etc/X11/Xorg.conf.
