Да; желательно, чтобы поля и свойства там и тут совпадали.
sysusers.d(5):

Т. е. в типичном случае g-директива даже и не нужна, а u!-директива
создаёт сразу и одноимённую группу. Это, ясное дело, отличается от
практики вокруг shadow-utils.
