Я думаю, что вопрос 50/50 политический и технический.
Политический - это должны поддержать архитекторы и какое-нибудь "большинство".
А для технических вопросов в рассылке sisyphus уже есть ветка - давай
переберёмся туда.
Сейчас из технических вопросов - надо решить что из старого наследства
надо тянуть (после отключения использования rc.sysinit нет смысла
тянуть старый груз типа поддержки raidtools).
А помочь можно в первую очередь тестированием и отчётами. Ну и патчи
не помешают.
PS: патчи для поддержки altlinux в systemd успешно приняты апстримом.
