Господа,
а кто у нас сейчас отвечает за подсистему печати?
я накопал в mageia и в других дистрибутивах
ряд драйверов для разного железа, к примеру

и др.
Подумал, что поддержка железа - дело важное
и нужно их собирать не в autoimports, а сразу в Сизиф.
Решил посоветоваться с ответственным за печать.
Посмотрел в Сизиф, а там это хозяйство заброшено:
