Наверное, можно подождать gcc4.8 и проверить, не заработает ли его lto-плагин.
Если не заработает, тогда придется выключить -flto.

Без дополнительных телодвижений при использовании gcc4.8 сборка
оканчивается точно также :-\

Значит, -flto в сочетании с --as-needed сейчас работает плохо.
