Странно, ему вроде не сильно нужно.

Этот точно собирается и в gtk-only, но теряет часть удобной
функциональности.
Вообще -- может, не стоит устраивать революции навроде libpng2/3,
если реально сделать "мягкий" переезд с параллельными версиями?
Я не представляю, реально ли и скольких трудов это может стоить
(т.е. абсолютно) -- но точно знаю, что просто все ломать тоже
нельзя и себе дороже. Все сразу мы не перетащим за авторов, а их
миграция еще с годик точно будет себе идти.
Что, кстати, на эту тему в Debian предпринимают?
