Subject: [ANNOUNCE] poldek
I'm pleased to announce the poldek - a console frontend
for RPM allowing easy package management.
Features include:
- package installation, upgrade and removal with
with automatic dependency resolution.
- system installation from scratch (used in PLD Installer);
- system upgrade, by checking what packages are outdated,
verifying any eventual new dependencies and installing
everything;
- package set verification for unresolved dependencies
unneeded conflicts and dependency loops;
- package set division for the purpose of placing packages
on removable media like CDROM or ZIP;
- batch (similar to apt-get in use) and interactive mode
with a readline interface with command line auto-completion
and history,
Package dependencies, conflicts and ordering are handled by
poldek itself, without rpmlib usage, so program is significantly
faster and uses less memory than rpmlib-based tools.
So far, poldek has only been used by PLD <http://www.pld.org.pl> distribution
users, but should work with no changes in any RPM-based distro.
The latest release is available at:

UNIX is user friendly. It's just very selective about who its friends are.
