Правильно было бы Linus' -- при добавлении притяжательного
суффикса 's к слову, заканчивающемуся на "s" (и, кажется,
на "x"), в аглицком действует такое правило.  Исключения
вроде ещё были, точно не помню.

Если считать имя Линус латинским словом второго склонения, то
правильно вообще Linusi :)

Not exactly.  If a _plural_ noun does end in "s" we put an apostrophe
at the end of the word.  With a _singular_ noun we use "'s".

Это не совсем так. Есть две точки зрения на этот вопрос:

1) Chicago MoS (чикагские) рекомендует "Linus's", но признает, что
"Linus'" - тоже верно.

2) EoS (нью-йоркские) и Canadian Press Stylebook (канадские) считают,
что для всех существительных, кончающихся на "s" в единственном числе
нужно добавлять "'s", за исключением 2 случаев: имена собственные и
всякие титулы типа "highness", "holiness" и женских "empress",
"princess", "countess" и т.п. - это, в общем, даже понятно почему,
чтобы не было по 3 "s" в одном месте.
