У меня тоже самое, только нормально конектиться под рутом пришлось
прописывать маршрутизацию и давать доступ обычному юзеру к kppp так
как, когда обычный юзер пускал kppp после конекта (проверки логина и
пасса) сбрасывал мопед и занова конектился. А теперь всё нормально
работает.
