Проблем на самом деле несколько.
Во-первых у меня в KDE-шной консоли не отображаются и не набираются русские
буквы - хотя в файле /etx/X11/xorg.conf прописана такая строка:
Option "XkbLayout" "us,ru"
и переключатель в принципе работает, только в режиме русского ввода я в
консоли вижу знаки вопросов. В других приложения я могу вводить русский текст,
вот как я это делаю сейчас.
Во вторых- я попытался добавить ttf шрифты из Windows так как это описано в
FAQ, т.е. скопировал в отдельную директорию, воспользовался утилитой ttmkfdir
для создания файлика fonts.dir. И подключил эту директорию в
/etx/X11/xorg.conf, добавив к существующим еще одну строку:
FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/winttf"
Это явно повлияло на некоторые приложения, например xfontsel показывает новые
шрифты, в openoffice тоже шрифтов явно прибавилось. Но не в терминале, или
например в настройках браузеров я тоже не могу выбрать эти новые шрифты.
У меня установлены такие пакеты:
xorg-x11-6.8.2-alt3
freetype2-2.1.9-alt2
freetype-1.3.1-alt4
система Master 2.4, после апгрейда из сизифа (еще мартовского 2005 года)
ядро 2.6.16-std26-smp-alt7
железо на платформе чипсета i915G
