Отписал кратко в соседний тред.
Забыл только упомянуть, что после перезагрузки не находился корень. Не
знаю почему, но адресация вида UUID слетела. Помогло редактирование
/etc/fstab с заменой всех UUID на /dev/sdxy. То ли udev виноват, то ли
ядра новые - однако факт был.
А поскольку реаниматолог из меня пока еще сильно начинающий, то
вылилось это всё в кучу времени, когда я сидел "к лесу передом, к
народу задом"... Но это уже лирика...
