Поменял винт (старый начался сыпаться, кстати и обнаружил это на Opera,
когда несколько раз подряд слегла почтовая база).
Переустановил систему. Поставил Opera 10.
Наверное, когда-то еще с времен Opera 8 были какие-то настройки и они
позволяли благополучно работать с флеш.
Но это покрыто тайной...
