в принципе можно и оставить.. не так далеко от 96х96..
Но в принципе можно и поменять.. Какой wm используете? Как входите в иксы,
через kdm/wdm или из консоли при помощи startx ? Т.е. какой run level - 3
или 5? (смотреть в /etc/inittab, строка id:3:initdefault: - в данном
примере это третий уровень запуска и запуск иксов при помощи startx).
ответьте на это, а дальше посмотрим возможные варианты..
