А в БИОС есть настройка ОС PnP? И какое значение у вас там выставлено,
если такая опция есть?
Может быть ваш DVD-ROM не поддерживает этой возможности.. Или эту
скорость, которую вы задаете.. Ибо буквально сейчас я в очередной раз
применил от пользователя (!) /sbin/hdparm -E 4 /dev/cdrom для того, чтобы
сделать тише привод при просмотре фильма, а также при игре в Генералов из
Cedega (там требуется вставить диск с игрой). А вы попробуйте скорость 8х,
с ней тоже довольно тихо (по крайней мере с СD-ROM тихо было и при 16х).
Но оптимальным вариантом является 4 или 8.
