Набор -- не большая проблема.
$ LANG=ru_RU.CP1251 xterm -g 110x50 -fn
'-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--20-200-75-75-c-100-microsoft-cp1251'
xterm: unable to open font
"-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--20-200-75-75-c-100-microsoft-cp1251", trying
"fixed"....
Может эти фонты (для cp1251) надо предварительно установить. Только из
какого пакета?
