Может покрутить aumix, kmix, alsamixer и прочие mix ? Может ползунок line
в "нижнем" положении? Еще какой-нибудь канал... Раз modules.conf почти
помог и звук еле-еле слышится, то дело скорее всего в настройках mixer.
