Иван,
это ваши только первоначальные впечатления.
Можно попробовать поработать в другой графической среде
отлтчной от KDE.
А в целом - у "голой" виндовс98 вначале могут быть очень хорошие показатели
скорости (правда на последних моделях машин её уже не поставишь), но по
истечении
некоторого времени на ней становится работать
довольно тяжело и раздражительно. (сначало быстро, затем медленее из-за
вирусов/антивирусов + liteSofta и т.д. и т.п., а всё это заканчивается
переустановкой ОС+Soft)
:-(
А в Linux - скорость всегда постоянна, как в начале так и в бесконечности.
