Потому что люди наступали на большие грабли с использованием reiserfs.
Я ее использую, но только в одном месте /var/spool/squid
там ее скорость полезна, а содержимое этого раздела потерять не
страшно :)
А так только ext2, ext3, xfs.
Правда если машина без UPS то xfs на нее ставить противопоказано ИМХО.

У меня был негативный опыт использования reiserfs с UPS.
