Настроить apt на нужный источник пакетов

Потом поглядеть, какое у вас ядро. Например так:
[alexei@threebears ~]$ uname -r
2.6.25-std-def-alt5
Стоит обратить внимание на буковки после версии ядра. В приведенном
примере это std-def. Далее поставить драйвера для своего ядра, например так:
apt-get install kernel-modules-nvidia-std-def
Еще доустановить паветы nvidia_glx и nvidia_glx_common. Исправить
/etc/X11/xorg.conf и перезагрузиться.
