Раньше как-то не пользовался лисом. В desktop'е попробовал и был немного
удивлен, что браузер при сохранении файлов не дописывает расширения (htm
или html)... Это фича такая? Можно от этого счастья как-то избавится кроме
как дописывать расширения самому?

Звиняйте за лишний шум. После того как я удалил старый каталог .mozilla
ошибка перестала воспроизводиться.
