Сейчас спросил у дебианщика, он ответил, что у него тоже было такое:
одна флешка на 1 гиг, другая - на 2 гига, он производил над ними одни
и те же действия, которая на 1 гиг загружается, вторая - нет.
Флешки были также от разных производителей.
Есть подозрение, что в первом секторе у некоторых флешек содержится
лишняя информация, которая не позволяет системе загрузиться с неё,
либо биос моей машины неверно определяет загрузочность флешки...
В частности замечал, что моя загрузочная флешка иногда на некоторых
компах также не загружается (что было странно: на один комп
я линукс ставил с этой флешки, попробовал загрузиться на нём с этой флешки
через некоторое время - не вышло по той же причине, а дома загрузился
нормально).
Если кому интересно, то к письму прилагаю первые 512 байт
незагружаемой флешки.
