правильное решение научить udev самому создавать ссылку на устройство.
по ссылке shrek привел пример:
$ echo "KERNEL=\"ttyS1\", NAME=\"ttyS1\", SYMLINK=\"modem\",
GROUP=\"uucp\",
MODE=\"0660\"" > /etc/udev/rules.d/99-modem.rules
скажите, что у вас не работает? ссылка создается?
