Что-то с Х-ами,
не пойму, подскажите, пожалуйста:

The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
> Error: bad length in Geometry
> Output file "/var/tmp/server-0.xkm" removed
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap
Could not init font path element unix/:-1, removing from list!
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

Разобрался, спасибо.
Похоже, не поднимался xfs.
Начал проверять корневую файловую систему,
обнаружил, что она под завязку забита неким файлом devsda в два гига ростом.
Появился в корне после попытки почистить фляжку
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda
