могу выложить для этого драйвер в updates. Редкий зверь, но иногда
попадается.

smp. Только в 3.0.4 будет глючить. Потому пока что рекомендую на up.

а в конфигураторе драйвер поменять не пробовали ?

надо более новую alsa. например уговорить мантейнера ядра собрать её для
3.0.4 ;)
