Озадачился мыслью уйти от самбы в сторону nfs.
Но из сетки вынь не выкинешь, и как-то обеспечивать доступ из таких
клиентов надо.
Узнал, что есть бесплатный пакет от мелкомягких (SFU), который
включает и nfs-server, и nfs-client и nfs-proxy для неадаптированных
клиентов. Качнул (больше 200 метров), поставил.
NFS-ресурсы появились в сетевом окружении, но русские символы
кракозяблами. Кодировка на сервере - utf8. Поиски привели к
противоречивым результатам: то ли никак, то ли х.з. как...
1) Реально ли поправить ситуацию без смены кодировки на сервере?
2) Влияет ли на что-нибудь версия nfs протокола?
3) Имеет ли смысл вообще бодаться с такой конфигурацией или потратить
время на что-нибудь более полезное?
