Оно же не поддерживаетсЯ, так что IMHO более-менее поддержку можно
получить только для последних 2.6.* изи Сизифа - просто потому, что
многие с ними играются, а про 2.6.8 уже забыли.
PS: пора систему чистить :-)

В итоге плаг-н-плея не получилось, а если гвоздиками прибивтаь, то
пришлось в /etc/modules добавить строчки cdrom а потом ide_cd
Потом в /etc/modules.conf закоммметнтировал поиск того-же cd через scsi
- чтобы не интерферировали: #probeall scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi
Тем не менее, пришлось все руками, plug-n-play не случился :-(
Кстати, если открыть /etc/modules_lookup.conf, то там есть такая
строка: EVENT="LOOKUP", NAME="*cdrom*|*cdwriter*|*dvd*", MODULE="ide-cd"
Вот не знаю, правильно ли, что ide-cd в ней написано через dash а не
через underscore ?
