Если удалить файл, пока он открыт какой-либо программой, как раз
ничего не случится. Программа не потеряет его дескриптор и будет
полноценно с ним работать, пока не закроет. С точки зрения
пользователя до момента закрытия программой этого файла будет
наблюдаться утечка дискового простанства "в никуда".
P.S. Винды просто не дадут удалить открытый файл.
