mplayer -vo xv
Остальные параметры -- по вкусу (подробнее -- см. man mplayer,
mplayer -vo help). Если xv нет, значит, либо старые Xfree86,
либо неправильно собран mplayer.
Также возможно, что Вы не скачали и не установили виндовые
кодеки ДЛЯ MPLAYER'а с http://www.mplayerhq.hu (звук есть,
изображения -- нет).
