C Xсерверами для неомаджиков случаются странные вещи... например, бывает,
что они не видят растровых фонтов, зажатых gz. На shadow регистры не греши
- не при чем они тут... Просто стоит от рута сказать
find /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ -name "*.pcf.gz" -exec gunzip {} \;
это разожмет шрифты, а потом пройтись по каталогам под
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ и сказать в каждом, где есть .pcf файлы
mkfontdir
после этого надо рестартовать xfs
/etc/rc.d./init.d/xfs restart
и пускать Хы. И будет тебе счастие....
