Все равно можно ограничить. Скажем, послать в девять утра субботы по крону
сообщение "ctrl-c" товарищу apt-get'у, и все.
А промежуточное состояние apt-get -- это когда она еще "не закачала все".
Тогда она будет ждать следующего сеанса закачки, и лишь потом поставит все
пакеты.
Но я согласен, без контроля apt-get, к сожалению, может довести систему до
полной неработоспособности. Вот у меня он обновлял ядро и удалил старое (с
модулями), поставил новое, потом запустил lilo -- ну, как большой. А у меня
lilo пишется на /dev/fd0. Облом и долгое колдыбание. А насчет ночи... У
меня самые страшные вещи на телефонном канале за ночь выкачиваются, и так,
что к утру компьютер довольно долго стоит и отдыхает...
